The Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean nation by size and third by population. It is located on the island of Hispaniola, alongside Haiti. Despite improvements in recent years, there is still significant poverty throughout the Dominican Republic. Large communities of Haitian people have moved to the Dominican Republic in hopes of a better life, but they have instead been met with challenges.
You can help share the love of Christ with the Haitian communities in the Dominican Republic, as well as other underserved communities, by serving on a Dominican Republic mission trip with Mission of Hope. Whatever your skills, there are ways for you to make an impact in the Dominican Republic. Our Mission Trip Coordinators can help you plan your trip by matching community needs with your skills or the skills of your group. While serving in the Dominican Republic, your team will have the opportunity to serve in a variety of areas, such as youth programs, small construction projects, mobile medical clinics, and community evangelism.
Serving alongside Mission of Hope on a medical mission trip is a great way to utilize your acquired skill set to help people in need, in a very tangible way. By meeting the physical needs of the people, you are helping create an openness to the gospel. Many people have come to faith through our medical clinics and mobile medical clinics. You will be playing a key role in achieving the vision of seeing every man, woman, and child’s life transformed. We welcome the following medical professionals: MD, DO, PA, NP, PharmD, RPh, RN, LPN, Paramedic, EMT, CNA, OT, and PT, as well as non-medical team members. Using basic hygiene training as an entry point to visit with individuals and households in the communities, you and your team will gather important data about the physical and spiritual needs of the people. The data collected ensures that everyone in a particular community has the opportunity to see, hear, and feel the gospel, and it enables us to better meet the needs of the people to bring life transformation.
You will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with residents through a translator, play with the children in the community, share the gospel, and pray with the people. Our hope is that, through Jesus Christ, every man, woman, and child’s life will be transformed. SMT allows us to build and maintain meaningful relationships with the people and equip the local churches to meet the needs of their communities. It is an opportunity to ensure that every person is reached with the love of Jesus.
Church Advancement projects are specific projects that contribute to the physical needs of the community. These projects represent the highest priorities for meeting the physical needs of a particular community in the Dominican Republic in which you are serving.
Furthermore, these projects are part of a larger plan that has been developed in partnership with local church pastors and ministries. If you have special skills to contribute or want to participate in a specific way, please let us know.
